The kpanlogo (pan-logo) drum is from the Ga tribe. It is carved from a solid piece of wood and has an antelope skin. It is usually played with hands but may also be played with sticks. Tuning is accomplished by the amount of tension applied to wooden pegs. The sound of a kpanlogo is warmer (more conga like), slightly quieter, and more organic sounding relative to a djembe.
The Kpanlogo drum is well known as the African peg drum. Smaller than the conga but of similar shape and sound. Antelope skin is used for its head producing a soft resonant tone. Played with the hands.
The kpanlogo drum is a peg drum native to the Volta and Western regions of Ghana. The conga-like shape and peg-tuned head make for a beautiful looking and great sounding instrument. WorldTribal kpanlogos are hand-carved to our specifications, and add character to any room or drum group in which they are found.
